For schools and classrooms

Walk Across Illinois Mileage Challenge is a free, customizable, online program for any school. The Challenge serves school children that walk, cycle or roll their way to school. Students earn “miles” through their walking, rolling and biking trips to school They use those miles to track their progress on virtual historic Illinois routes including the Underground Railroad, Cherokee Trail of Tears, Lincoln Highway and See No Borders.

Walk Across Illinois School Fitness Program offers elementary schools a free interdisciplinary approach that increases students’ physical activity in school and at home. Participating students earn “miles” through any number of physical activity in our outside the classroom. These miles bring them on a 375-mile virtual journey across the state. Walk Across Illinois Fitness Program is present in P.E. classrooms and in homerooms. Students earn their “miles” in P.E. and then learn about the stops along the way in the classroom.
