How do you usually get around?
Biking or bus.
Why did you choose to commute this way?
I don’t have a driver’s permit or license yet, but I know if I drove I wouldn’t want to have to circle the blocks looking for parking.
What do you like most about commuting this way?
I like the way you can see Chicago in a new way. Also, you notice a lot more places, like shops and restaurants to check out.
Describe your ideal bike ride.
Downtown…easily.
What’s a benefit of commuting this way rather than driving?
It is environmentally better. Also, you can get your cardio in, so it cuts my time down in the gym.
Why do you think most people choose to drive rather than bike, walk or ride the train?
America is lazy. People in other countries bike way more than we do. A lot of people drive because it seems more convenient--all you have to do is push a gas pedal, but it’s actually a lot more expensive and not always as fast.
If you were trying to convince someone to ride their bike instead of drive, what would you say?
Since we live in the city, it’s a lot faster and you can get through traffic quicker. I can take my bike and get somewhere quicker than my friend who drove. It’s better for the environment and for you.
