Open Streets spreads to Oak Forest
Cicero Avenue – normally clogged with dirty cars – gave way to children, dogs and strollers March 13 for its first Open Streets events. Mayor Kuspa and the Oak Forest Bike Plan Task Force opened Cicero Avenue from 152nd Street to 159th Street for an hour and ahalf before its annual Fleadh Parade. If you are interested in holding a similar event, contact us! We’d be happy to help.

Loyola University unveils bike sharing program
Bike and Roll Chicago recently donated 30 bicycles, each valued at $1,000, to the Loyola University Bike Club. The bikes will be located in the main parking structure on Loyola’s Lake Shore campus. Bike club leader Tony Giron is excited about the donation and what opportunities lay ahead for the organization and the Loyola community. The two groups got together when Bike and Roll Chicago tour guide, and former Loyola Bike Club member, Jared Arter, approached the owner of Bike and Roll Chicago, Josh Squire, about making a donation to the Bike Club. The bicycles donated by Bike and Roll Chicago are special B-cycle bikes built in a partnership between Trek Bikes, Humana Health, and the ad agency Crispin, Porter + Bogusky. The bikes feature a rugged steel frame with integrated basket, bell, front and rear lights, 3-speed Shimano shifter, and disk brakes.
