Quick Releases

Star light star bright

Commuters lit up the night sky last month thanks to a generous donation of headlights.

We were out there with Active Trans member, local attorney (and Wheels of Justice author) Jim Freeman letting bicyclists know that Illinois law requires a front headlight and a rear reflector for nighttime riding. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and is now riding safely. Didn’t get one? Stop by your local bike shop and buy one – it’s the law!

Organize your own headlight giveaway. Contact your suburban coordinator to find out more!

Extra!

“I hate when I can’t park my bike in the city of Chicago because the news racks are in the way!” We do, too. If you find yourself in a pinch, e-mail the City of Chicago at steven.vance@cityofchicago.org, and the news rack will be moved.

Member generosity floors us! Your gifts yielded $25,000!

Active Trans wants to thank you for making a donation to our year-end fund appeal.

For all members who made their first gift of $25, your gifts were matched by an anonymous group of donors. For all members who donated significantly despite challenging financial times, your generosity means the world to us. We respect your commitment to changing our streets, our culture and the way we move. This is a big year for bicycling and walking. We need healthy streets, and your health and safety are our top priorities.

Thank you again for your critical gift.

Annual fund appeal winner

Active Trans Executive Director Rob Sadowsky draws the lucky name. Jay Fried of Northbrook won the Active Transportation Alliance's fund appeal drawing for everyone who donated $200 or more. Jay won a $100 gift certificate to REI! Active Trans thanks Jay for his generous gift of $300, and we thank REI for donating such a snappy prize.
