Narrow bike lanes need to be phased out
The chicago bike lanes are a good step in the right direction to promote cycling. However, many lanes are too narrow. They do not allow enough space to avoid the door zone and let cars pass you with 3' of clearance. Furthuremore, bike lanes often contain glass and debris causing frequent flats.
I would hope narrow roads be replaced with signs saying 'Cars yield to cyclist' signs. I don't like "Share the road" signs since to cars that means bikes need to get out of their way. Signs should clearly indicate that cyclists may ride in the center of the lane and be treated like a slower moving vehicle.
