Complete Streets Awards

Get your community's project recognized as one of the best in Chicagoland

Many towns in our region are already realizing the economic, health, and environmental benefits of Complete Streets — roadways that are safe and comfortable for all people, whether they walk, bike, take transit or drive.

The Active Transportation Alliance wants to honor the public officials and transportation professionals who are working to create Complete Streets in their communities.

We are seeking nominations for finished Complete Streets projects for recognition as among our region’s most exemplary.

Nominate a Complete Street in your community. The nomination form is easy to fill out and can be completed in just a few minutes.

  • Give a boost to the Complete Streets movement by educating news reporters, public officials and the general public about Complete Streets’ many benefits.

Active Trans has for worked for years to foster and encourage the Complete Streets movement. We literally "wrote the book" on Complete Streets with a manual that won the Best Practice award from the Illinois chapter of the American Planning Association. The manual is called Complete Streets Complete Networks: A Manual for the Design of Active Transportation.

Active Trans has worked with dozens of communities and jurisdictions, including the City of Chicago, Cook County, the Northeast Indiana Regional Planning Commission, and suburban communities around the region to adopt and implement Complete Streets policies.

This award will celebrate some of the ultimate products of that work: the finished Complete Streets that now dot our region and are enjoyed daily by local users of all types.
