Twitter feed offers latest news on Lakefront Trail

As deeply ingrained as hitting the snooze button in the morning, millions of Chicagoans start their day by switching on their televisions to see what the weather will be like and what they should expect from traffic.

Certainly a sensible thing to do, but what if instead of the Edens or the Jane Addams your commute follows Chicago's Lakefront Trail? Where do you turn for up-to-date conditions?

Ever since March 2011, the definitive answer has been the Active Transportation Alliance’s Lakefront Trail Twitter feed @activetransLFT.

The feed reports on everything from wind speed/direction and path conditions to slowdowns caused by additional grounds crews and the availability of facilities.
