Tell Congress to vote no on cuts to active transportation

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on the 2011 budget. It is very possible that programs dear to our hearts—Transportation Enhancements, Safe Routes to Schools and transit funding—may be in jeopardy. We need your help today.

Investing in active transportation is an investment in America’s economy. Several recent studies have shown that investments in biking, walking and transit create jobs.

What can you do?

Call your congressmen today and say, “Vote no on cuts to active transportation programs!” The stakes are high. This first budget vote of the new Congress will set the stage for later budgets. It’s important that we protect these programs!

We need our 5,800 Active Trans members to speak out together. Your voice makes a difference. We will be joined by other advocates around the nation, ensuring our message will be heard loud and clear.

Funding

I hope that funding for active transportation stays. I think that it will because of the push to get people out of their cars even if they work 20 miles from home. I am hopeful that all will be ok and I hope that you will update us.
