We get it, you wish your town did

Tuesday night, the City of Oak Forest agreed to hire Baxter & Woodman, an engineering firm, and the Active Transportation Alliance to develop a city bike plan; here's the SouthtownStar story: http://tinyurl.com/oakforest

Oak Forest and the other Southland bike plan towns are behaving like great businesses: use downtimes to position themselves for the rebound [think Apple in 2000]. People moving out of Chicago now, thanks to the city’s bike efforts, expect bike accommodation and active living opportunities such as trails, bike racks, and safe, marked routes. Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, Homewood, Palos Park, Blue Island, Alsip & Lan-Oak Park Districts, all of the Calumet-Sag Trail coalition towns, our convention & visitors bureau, our council of mayors...all of us get this. We're positioning the Chicago Southland to win the quality of life contest, the prize being new families looking for the yard, the good school, the smaller crowds, and now the convenient and plentiful biking.

What's your town got? Thought so.
