The Oak Street Bend to Ohio Street section of the Lakefront Trail has seen some attention recently. A plow has been run through this section and although it has not scraped the snow and ice completely away, it won't take much warm weather to have bare pavement in this section of the Trail. I was able to ride this section of the Trail this Monday morning with a front cross tire and a rear road tire on my cross bike but I did have to ride over some snow and ice.
The section of the paved Trail just south of Fullerton has also been plowed and is now rideable. The south-bound lane has bare pavement while sections of the north-bound side still has some snow and ice.

Any chance they'll sweep that stretch?
As always at this time of year, the stretch for the Lakefront Trail from Oak St. to Navy Pier is littered with broken glass. I have seen three flats in the vicinity this past week, and this morning, I popped no less than 15 pieces of glass out of my tires (Kevlar!).
I know they don't usually start sweeping until May (for some strange reason), but could we urge them to get down there with Jeep with the rotating broom on the front in the next week so we can avoid flats?
Thanks, Randy.
Ahmen!
It would be great if the Park District could clean that stretch. It's pretty bad even for this time of year. They were out collecting drift wood off the beaches this morning. I can't help but thinking more people would immediately benefit, and bike commuting would be better promoted, if those resources were channeled into sweeping the path now, and the beaches were cleared in May.
