The long awaited Northwest Indiana Greenways and Blueways map is now available. Active Trans worked with the Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission to design the map. Volunteers and Active Trans staff rode every route shown. The map features information on bike routes, trails, and new for the 2012 edition, water trails. Routes for hiking, biking, and paddling are shown for Lake, Porter, and LaPorte Counties.
You can use this map to find a bike route to all your favorite places in Indiana. Numerous tourist destinations, cultural institutions, parks, and trails of all types are shown.
Copies can be picked up from libraries, city halls, chambers of commerce and tourism bureaus throughout Northwest Indiana or downloaded from the NIRPC website: http://www.nirpc.org/transportation/nonmotorized.htm

Lakefront Trail closures
Active Trans just posted an item on our blog with the latest information about trail closures during the NATO Summit.
NATO and lakefront path
I read the security statement on road closures, but don't see anything about closures on the south lakefront trail. Anyone know anything?
NATO
According to a doc uploaded by NBC News, "It is expected that the lakefront bicycle path will be closed for the duration of the event." I don't see how it can't be, given that it runs right next to McCormick Place. From where to where it will be closed, dear Hamlet, that is the question.
