Last night, 45 trail users packed the room at the Margate Park Fieldhouse for our first Friends of the Lakefront Trail Visioning Workshop, in partnership with Friends of the Parks and Chicago Area Runners Association.
Workshop participants learned a bit about trail advocacy, and then went to work marking up maps; rating trail access points; indicating trail congestion, conflict areas and crash locations; and voting on their top trail advocacy issues.
We'll be hosting another workshop on the south side next Wed. in case you missed this one.
Friends of the Lakefront Trail Visioning Workshop -- South Side
April 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Jackson Park Fieldhouse (6401 S. Stony Island Ave.)
Come tell us about your experiences using the Lakefront Trail and share your ideas for its future. Your input will help shape our advocacy goals to improve the trail!

The best way to get things
The best way to get things done is to come together and discuss things and really draw out the ideas so that the best plans can be made. Bikers are always full of great ideas for trails and I hope that there will be more updates.
Bike trails are really important to pay the bills and it is imperative for people to really get together to create the safest bike trails possible.
Follow up comments
Lee, thanks to everyone for a great meeting last night. For those of us who couldn't stay to leave our comments on the maps, or for anyone who might not be able to attend either of the visioning meetings, what is the best way for us to relay our further thoughts to you so they can be included in the process? Thanks!
Michelle -- Thanks for
Michelle -- Thanks for coming out! You can email lakefront@activetrans.org for now with additional thoughts. In the coming weeks, we'll be processing the initial input from the workshops and using that information to identify additional needs for input (some of the comments will likely raise additional questions). We'll potentially collect additional feedback through an online survey or something similar. We will send a follow-up/wrap-up email to participants within a few weeks after the South Side meeting, and we'll post the same info. on our blog.
