Did You Know?

Nearly five children are hit by people driving every day in Illinois while walking or biking within one block of a school.

Open Streets rain or shine

While some people were deterred by the rain last Sunday during the Open Streets event on Milwaukee Ave., there were plenty of others who didn't let the rain didn’t stop them.

From 10 a.m.to 3 p.m., people ignored the drizzle to enjoy Open Streets in Bucktown, Wicker Park and Logan Square. Yes, it's true, Chicago people are tough and always ready to roll.

Adventurers took advantage of  activities like yoga (Zen Yoga Garage opened their garage doors!) and enjoyed Latent Design's BlahBlahBlob’s amorphous soft sculpture (hey, it was dry inside!).

People grabbed burgers, hot dogs and other snacks at the ALDI rest stop and topped it off with a cold beverage at one of Revolution Brewing’s beer gardens.

Let’s celebrate another year of Open Streets with multiple days — not just one day. That way, rainy days or not, everyone can come out and play.
