This comes from Greg Valent, a long-time bike community advocate who attended the meeting and provided this update to the Chicago Critical Mass listserv:
This was great! Well thought out, well presented. Bottom line: 1.5 mile bicycle bridge, $42,000,000.00. Feds 80% already guaranteed, once the city comes up with its share. Hope to start work next year, (yeah, right), with a four year construction schedule. It makes the Bloomingdale Trail seem like a bargain www.bloomingdaletrail.org. The plans and drawings are supposed to be posted on this site soon: www.ward42chicago.com.
Oh, yeah. They're actually going to dip into the outer drive and take away part of the lane alongside Lake Point Tower. They could have saved a lot of trouble and money by just banning cars from the drive.

Navy Pier Flyover vs Bloomingdale Trail
In today's (20 Aug 2010) Redeye there is a two page spread on the Bloomingdale. The Friends of group gets short shrift in a sidebar. BUT, the cost is now up to $41,000,000.00 ! Almost as much as the Flyover. Come on. I'm sure we can get the cost of a 3 mile trail up to $82,000,000.00.
Navy Pier Flyover
Well, it's been a month and the info isn't on the 42nd ward site, yet.
