New Year (Driving) Resolution

This new year please make a resolution to avoid distracted driving. Indeed, you must in the State of Illinois.

On January 1, two pieces of Active Trans-championed legislation go into effect. HB 71 and 72 collectively ban almost all drivers from text messaging while driving statewide, and ban most drivers from using cell phones while driving in highway construction and school zones. Thank you to all the legislators who voted for HB 71 and 72.

You can do your part in making our roads safer by signing the Drive with Care Pledge. Check it out here.

Come back to www.activetrans.org in January for more on our 2010 legislative agenda.

Congrats?

Nice going on the distracted bill. However, it leaves out something even more important. Drivers trying to find music on i-pods! I have my self been in cars with folks who can't seem to do anything without surfing the music player. Actually more so than texters. I know it may ruffle feathers but combine it with cellphones, dvd players, navigation devices, laptops...you get the picture.
