Good news for cyclists in Hoffman Estates

If you've spent time recently in Hoffman Estates you may have noticed some new green and white bicycle signs.

The Active Transportation Alliance has been working with Hoffman Estates all year on putting up 18 miles of on-street bicycle route bike signs that will allow cyclists to get around the community easier.

The signs, which are intended to help bicyclists reach key destinations, meet the latest federal standards for signage and include distance and direction information to help riders navigate the new routes.

The sign project is a feature of the village's recently adopted comprehensive bicycle plan, which identifies 65 new miles of bicycle facilities.

Active Trans also has been working with Hoffman Estates to develop a Complete Streets policy for the community.

Great job Hoffman!

Congrats and thank you for helping cyclists. Other villages nearby in the NW burbs are making progress too. Hoffman gives a great example!
