Launching Des Plaines' active transportation plan

What a great year for biking and walking in Des Plaines!

A dozen folks who have been working on improving biking and walking conditions in Des Plaines went out for a bike ride recently. During the ride, participants discussed the recommendations of the community's recently-approved active transportation plan while enjoying the streets and trails of Des Plaines.

We biked on busy streets, in residential neighborhoods, around schools and in the downtown area. Click on the photo to see some of the Des Plaines city staff and Active Trans staff who participated in the ride.

Here's a blog post about some of the recent bike and pedestrian improvements in Des Plaines. Also, the city offers a nice collection of resources on its website, including a recently completed school travel plan and city's active transportation plan.
