Chicagoans, sign on to support better transportation

Dear Chicagoans,

Do you care about the Feb. 22 mayoral and aldermanic elections?

Do you want your candidates to support efforts to make biking, walking and transit easier and safer?

Active Trans and seven other nonprofit environmental and transportation organizations are challenging candidates to support our Sustainable Transportation Platform.

Recently I had a serious cycling accident. If Chicago's roadways were designed with bicycles in mind, it could have been prevented. Please, we must work to make Chicago safer for cyclists.

Joseph, we're sorry to hear about your recent crash...if you haven't checked out our crash support advocacy, hopefully there are some resources and referrals that may help you work through the post-crash www.activetrans.org/crashsupport.

We do agree about making Chicago (and the region) safer for bicycling. Part of the Chicago candidate platform includes a push for a city-wide network of separated bike lanes where bikes have their own space separate from cars.
