We are currently experiencing the most transformative moment in the history of Chicago bicycling. Active Trans’ Neighborhood Bikeways Campaign is advocating for a 100-mile network of protected bike lanes by 2015, as well as other innovative bikeways. And the city's Streets for Cycling Plan 2020 has laid out a roadmap for a 650-mile network of innovative bikeways reaching every neighborhood.
The map below shows completed and proposed protected bike lanes, buffered bike lanes and neighborhood greenways. It is based on information made publicly available by the Chicago Department of Transportation as well as newsletters or reports from aldermen. Learn more about these kinds of bikeways here.
