The Neighborhood Bikeways Campaign is rallying support for the creation of a 100-mile network of protected bikeways. These bikeways will reduce crashes, increase ridership and connect Chicago neighborhoods.
Additionally, the Bikeways Campaign is advocating for doubling the amount of bike parking in the city from 12,000 to 24,000 racks.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) Commissioner Gabe Klein already share our goals for safer bikeways. We look forward to working with them as these efforts come to fruition, but the mayor and CDOT acting alone is not enough! Chicagoans and their city council need to make their voices heard if we want to see the vision for 100 miles come to life.
The Neighborhood Bikeways Campaign is educating the public about the benefits of protected bikeways and organizing supporters across the city to keep bikeway projects moving forward.
