Active Trans’ Neighborhood Bikeways Campaign is mobilizing thousands of people from across Chicago to achieve our goal of building a 100-mile network of protected bikeways by 2015. A comprehensive bikeway network has the potential to significantly reduce crashes for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists alike, while increasing the number of people who choose cycling for transportation.
Each of us has a role to play in making this vision a reality. Our success will depend on people like YOU taking action to make change.
If you support safer and better biking in Chicago please join our campaign by completing the form below. We'll contact you with campaign updates, action alerts and opportunities to get involved!
Why does Chicago need better bikeways?
All Chicagoans should feel safe on our city's streets—whether driving, walking or riding a bike. Whether you're an 8-year-old child or 80-year-old grandmother, you should be able to ride a bike in the city without fearing for your safety. To make biking safe and easy for everyone, Chicago needs a bicycle network designed with all kinds of people in mind.
In recent decades, cities in the United States and around the world have benefited from creating safe and comfortable streets that accommodate cycling for all ages. When more people use a bicycle for their everyday trips, everyone benefits.
We need support in your community to build these first 100 miles. Across the city, we are organizing residents in neighborhoods and building aldermanic support to move bikeway projects forward.
